Step 1: Visit the Official UIDAI Website
To begin the process go to the official UIDAI portal by visiting https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. This is the only official website authorized by the Government of India to issue and manage Aadhaar services. Avoid using any third-party websites for security reasons.
Step 2: Click on Download Aadhaar
Once you re on the homepage scroll down or look under the My Aadhaar section Click on the Download Aadhaar option. This will redirect you to a new page where you can download your Aadhaar card in digital format.
Step 3: Choose the Appropriate Option
On the download page you will see three options to retrieve your e-Aadhaar:
- Aadhaar Number (UID)
- Enrollment ID (EID)
- Virtual ID (VID)
Select the option you want to use. If you already have your Aadhaar number it’s the fastest and easiest method.
Step 4: Enter Your Personal Details
Now you need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or the 28-digit Enrollment ID if using EID or the 16-digit Virtual ID. After that, enter the CAPTCHA code displayed on the screen correctly to proceed.

Step 6: Enter OTP and Verify
Check your mobile for the 6-digit OTP. Enter this OTP in the space provided and click on the Verify and Download button. If the OTP is correct the system will validate your identity and generate the e-Aadhaar card for download.
Step 7: Download Your e-Aadhaar PDF
Once verified your Aadhaar card will be automatically downloaded in Aadhaar Card PDF format. The file will be saved in the Downloads folder on your device. This PDF file contains your complete Aadhaar details and is digitally signed by UIDAI.
Step 8: Open the Password-Protected PDF
The e-Aadhaar PDF is password-protected for your security. To open the file, enter a password made up of the first four letters of your name in CAPITAL letters followed by your year of birth.
For example, if your name is Suresh and your birth year is 1990 then the password will be SURE1990.
Step 9: Save or Print the PDF for Future Use
Once opened, you can save the Aadhaar Card PDF securely in your mobile or computer. You can also take a printout if needed. The e-Aadhaar is legally valid just like the physical Aadhaar card and can be used for KYC, government services bank account verification and other identity proofs.
